Save Money When Purchasing Your Heating Oil

Are you interested in saving money on your domestic heating oil?  If the answer is YES you might be interested to know about a scheme that is operating across Lincolnshire helping its members to do just that!

Community Lincs have run their Community Oil buying Scheme for the last 3 years, saving its members on average around 5p per litre on their heating oil.  The scheme is open to anyone in the county who uses heating oil to heat their homes and premises. The scheme works by bringing together oil buyers from around county and purchasing the oil collectively, with around 40,000 litres of oil being ordered each month.

The scheme is only £20 per year to join and includes advice on how to keep your tank safe from thieves and the benefit of their Oil Theft Alert System. Community Lincs also work alongside the Lincolnshire Credit Union, or Lincup, who have devised an Oil Savers Scheme to allow members to put aside money each month for their oil purchases.

If you are interested to know more about the scheme you can visit the Community Lincs website at http://communitylincs.com/community-oil-buying-scheme/ or by giving them a call on 01529 301980.

PETTICOAT CLUB NEWS
We hope you all come along on SATURDAY 6th JUNE, The Mad Hatters Tea Party at the Memorial Hall. This is our annual fund raiser to raise funds for L.I.V.E.S. It should be great fun and it is such a worthwhile cause.
At our May meeting we were treated to a demonstration of watercolour painting by Anne Barnham. Over the course of an hour Anne created a beautiful Sussex scene, all the while explaining the techniques of this art form. It was easy to understand why she is employed by P&O to teach painting on their cruise ships. She made it all look so easy but we know it has taken her years to perfect this art. Many of us came away with the enthusiasm to perhaps have a go ourselves.
We all learnt that you should look three times, think twice and paint once and allow the paint to do its job.
The meeting was very well attended and it was great to see so many members there. As the evening drew to a close Anne very kindly donated the finished painting, so that it can be auctioned at our Mad Hatters Tea Party.
This was a thoroughly enjoyable and very informative evening.

Our next meeting is WEDNESDAY 10th JUNE at 7.30pm.
When Alf Wilkinson will be talking to us about the significance of Magna Carta.

New members will be very welcome.

SOUTH LINCS SHADOWS MUSIC CLUB

May 2015 Meeting.

A good turnout on what was a windy and, at times, wet evening.

There were plenty of players and we all got to play 5 numbers each, a good mix of old favourites and some lesser known album tunes.

Again there was also plenty of chatting and advice for the newer players.

John is one of our newer members, still learning, and brought along his guitar for us to check and play. It is a nice sunburst Squier stratocaster and it sounded very good when I played Dance On for him.

The other surprise of the evening was when Steve B brought along his new “Hall and Collins Signature Echo” for us to use. These have literally just gone on sale after several years of development and he is one of the first purchasers.

It took a little while to balance the system but was worth the wait. The sound was very authentic of the early sixties.

Don’t forget you don’t have to be a player - you can just come and listen, have a chat, swap a few memories. Entry is just £2 for non players.

Entry is £3 for guitar players and you just need to bring your guitar. Everything else is provided, backing tracks, echo machines, PA system. Or, if you have your own backing tracks they, can be accommodated on CD, minidisc, USB stick, mp3 player, smartphone or iPad etc.

Meetings are held at the Memorial Hall from 7:30pm to 10:30pm on the first Wednesday of every month.

Light refreshments are included.

Next meeting is Wednesday 3rd June.
