HELPRINGHAM HARVEST EVENTS
Both the Festival on Friday 5th at 6.00pm, which will be led by Rev Chris, and the Supper in the Memorial Hall on the 6th at both are always good for a pleasant evening out. Tickets for the supper from John West or Terry Markham or your usual Parochial Church Council Marketing Executive!
Tickets cost £8:00 for adult, £7:00 for Concessions and £4.00 for nippers. All funds raised go to the Church maintenance fund which has taken a bit of a bashing lately with the Organ motor blowing up and the unbelievable cost of new lamps for the lighting. Keep smiling and be nice to each other. John West

PETTICOAT CLUB NEWS
We had pleasure in welcoming a very special lady, Debbie Chessum, to our September meeting. Some of us already knew her as she runs the local Vitality group but were perhaps unaware of the vast amounts of money she has raised for various charities, as a result of which, she was nominated to be one of the Olympic torch bearers.
It all started when Debbie was an overweight teenager and she started to exercise to lose weight. From fast walking to jogging to running she persevered until she was able to attempt her first marathon. Having been successful at that she went on to complete another 6 and together with other fund raising activities she has managed to donate over £39k to charity. All this, whilst also coping with the fact that her baby daughter contracted meningitis and her husband was diagnosed with a brain tumour; neither of which has changed her positive outlook on life.
Debbie brought along the Olympic torch that she had carried and we were all amazed at just how beautiful it was. She was able to talk us through the day itself which was truly one of mixed emotions - excitement, nervousness, anxiety and sheer panic, Debbie is still raising money wherever and whenever she can and she went away with the respect and admiration of us all.
Our next meeting is at 7:30pm on Wednesday 10th October when Sue Cadman (ex Roly Poly) will be back with Part 2 of "My Life in Showbiz" - not to be missed. Do come along, new members and guests welcome.

HELPRINGHAM AND DISTRICT GARDEN CLUB
This months meeting will be WEdnesday the 24th at 7:30: Romany Remedies & Garden Cures / Speaker Freya Trotman

HELPRINGHAM HISTORY SOCIETY
The Society would like to thank all those who helped us mount the "Sporting Helpringham" exhibition in St. Andrew's Church over the Feast Weekend. It was amazing to see how many people in Helpringham have had sporting success and we hope all those who attended found it enjoyable and interesting.
We are already planning the exhibition for next year's Feast "School Days" so please keep this in mind and look out your old school photos, artefacts and stories. This will include not just those educated in Helpringham but everyone. We ALL have school memories.
On Remembrance Sunday this year we will once again be remembering our war heroes at the Memorial Hall and would welcome any information or artefacts you may have to add to our already sizable collection, including all conflicts since the Second World War where our heroes have served and died.
The Society is now starting work on its next project "Buildings and People of Helpringham". To help with this we are seeking information on all buildings in the village and knowledge of previous ones. If you can help with this we would love to hear from you. Contact Laraine on 421110 or Julie on 421265 or any other Society members.

DARBY AND JOAN CLUB
The Darby and Joan Club held a successful Rummage Sale in September, raising £226 for the club funds. Thank you to everyone who helped and supported the event.
